DEV-inity

So I’ve been practicing what I’ve been teaching… journaling and visualizing amazing things for  others and myself.   I’ll sometimes write random moments I’d want to happen..without thinking anything of it…then it happens!  I’m wow’d every time, like I thought it wasn’t going to.  I mentioned reconnecting with old college colleagues and possibly meeting celebrities that hold high integrity and would vibe well with SpiritYourStyle.com.

So this is what happened…

My handsome friend Graham Kostic is a founder of Glossedandfound.com (an adorable, stylish and fashionable online magazine).  He was doing a giveaway to meet artist DEV online if you listed your favorite beauty finds… I’m a Seph-whore-a (pun intended), and listed my favorite finds… Korres moisturizers, Tarte products, and the ever favorite Smith’s Rosebud lip salve.. These products keep the outer temple beautiful while nourishing it ..  I wasn’t looking to win it, and it happened!

I’ll be honest, if a famous person walked past me, I probably couldn’t recognize them.. but they’re probably vibrating an energy magnetically for a reason.. I’ve heard Dev’s music, but didn’t recognize her as an artist.. then I did some research, and found some info on her… what popped out was she stopped school and just pursued her dream!  I’d love to find out more in person.

I didn’t get to meet Graham, maybe next time!  I didn’t get to find Dev’s publicist or interview her.. but I did get a photo with her and briefed her on Spirit Your Style’s mission to inspire people through a fusion of fashion, art, style  and spirituality and just connecting to your higher self.   Dev found it awesome and is open to interview with us when I visit LA.  I met her for only 30 seconds, but she’s really genuine, sweet and has a very gentle green energy…

If you don’t have an opportunity, release and make room in your life (that can take some research)  create it and go get it!   Who cares what unsupportive people think?  Especially when your purpose is inspire and light the world.

Low Vibes to High Vibes!

For Sunday, I initially felt low vibes.  Wearing bright orange helped a little, but sitting under the tree helped the most…. as well as digging my feet into the soil like a trigger hippie.  lol :)   My vibes picked up after using some crystals, reiki and sitting under the tree.  Crystals are awesome energy transmitters.  They’ll exchange what you don’t want to feel with what you want to feel.   It made me ready to go for the rest of the day!  It was the only day that didn’t rain though!

The over-all experience at Pitchfork was multi-sensory.  Our 4 man crew (Adam, Joel, J. Keyes and I) was in sync with one another.  We’re all laid-back, yet prepared and adaptable for Captain J. Keyes requests.  J. Keyes is a man of integrity who’s genuinely earthy, nice and brilliant  (All the positive adjectives x infinity).  His questions were naturally inquisitive, and his questions showcased his genuine interest in the band.  It was enjoyable to see the initial reaction with these band members switch from being apprehensive to intrigued during J. Keyes’ interviews.  More so, when he’d transition them to a spirit oriented activity.

For some reason, if someone famous walked into me, I wouldn’t recognize him or her.  I’d just smile and treat them like anyone else.. friendliness like usual.  I just feel their vibes.  Not all popular people have the greatest energy.  It’s interesting to see how the requirements of the  music/entertainment industry can shape people.  Some of these non-posing artists seem fearful of getting locked into a style of expression, or be forced to pose for what the media or fans want. Famous musicians are the live flint and the press is the knife which chisels them in their external world.

I could relate to Alex from Dirty Beaches with being first generational American and living in dual cultures.  It’s a quest to develop that mini connection between the western and eastern worlds.  We definitely agreed that Asian culture has a don’t ask, don’t tell, just accept and just do policy.  It’s interesting how he applies this rule to good use to keep his social tasks in order to reach his goals.

Some artists will be like the Michigan J. Frog, but in reverse.  They wouldn’t speak very much before the interview, then their charisma would come out of no where in front of the camera.  But other artists would just ridiculously loved the attention, like Bradford Cox.  His energy is definitely a bright orange-red energy.  The metal band members from Atlas Moth and Liturgy were amazingly very spiritual and sweet.

Vampire Weekend was the perfect ending to Pitchfork.  The energy exchange between their music and the crowd made it feel like being on a blissful sound cloud.  The musical notes in their songs really activate the sacral, solar, heart and crown chakras.

Here’s an interview with The Men.. but you can check out more on emusic’s youtube channel.

How Synchronic, don’t ya think?

It’s pretty interesting.. when you know your purpose, emit a certain vibe and stroll around, you somehow always encounter people with the similar vibes or interests!  It’s an amazing feeling.  Today, on my lunch break for Pitchfork, I went to order a sandwich and a picture of an angel popped out of my clutch.  She was curious as to see which one it was, then told me how she invokes angels all the time.  This was before Joe interviewed the band Liturgy, and we taught them an angel prayer.  So fascinating.

The next encounter was bumping into a dear old friend Lydia.  The last time I had seen her was college graduation, and couldn’t even find her on facebook.  Last month I confused a stranger to be her… and the stranger had WTF written all over her face.  I was still happy to give her my love anyway.  But that’s okay because I found Lydia today behind her counter of amazing organic hand made jewelry.

After the last interview of the day, I intuitively felt the need to stroll around the Pitchfork festival’s market.  There were so many amazing artists there.  See that birdie up there?  It’s by Anna Todoro.  A very talented artists.  You could literally feel the love out of her art.  It was colorful, magical and some were even humorous.  She’s beautified Spock from Star Wars with flowers around his head, and Abe Lincoln wearing a flower hat, along with so many different beautiful birds.  We got into talking about art and expressing yourself.  Anna has a really unique perspective at life and captures it well.  She also inspires people with how to be creative.  After we were talking about journaling, she gifted me this birdie journal.  Yes, she did paint the birdie.   AnnaTodoro.com.

Also!  Margie from Red-Belly Studio Red-Belly.com  has an amazing concept.  Her inner child inspires her to create quirky jewelry/magnets out of mini toys.  She calls her magnets Animal Magnet-ism.  I love it.  We’ll video blog with her in the fall :)

Also, ReUse-First.com creates soy candles in candle glasses created out of alcohol bottles donated from bars around Chicago.  There cardstock is so adorable, I got one for a friend. :)

What Aura you talking about?

Your ENERGY.  We’re talking about your electromagnetic field created by the subtle energy you emit from your chakras.  We’re all vibrations and we all affect one another.  Keep your eye on emusic.com, and watch for J. Edward Keys (Editor-in-chief of emusic.com) and I learn more about talented musicians and show them how to keep their vibes up on the go.  We’re using color and other fun and practical vibe oriented exercises you can use every day.  Keep it simple and fast :)

P.S.  Sorry for the lag in blog posts.  I’m now motivated to keep you all updated and share all my tricks.  Also, If you haven’t liked my facebook page yet, please do so.. I’m about to start some give-aways.. like vedic astrology charts, even some coaching sessions to get you flowing properly :)

Mothers + Others. Forgive, Open and Love.

I had found this lonely bear sitting alone on an airport bench in the baggage claim area last year.

Is it hard to believe that some mothers are actually jealous and incapable to give to their children unconditionally?  I was at first, amazed and astounded to find out the number of people, especially women who didn’t receive supportive love from their mothers.  Some of these women didn’t initially realize the blocks this had created within themselves to pursue their own aspirations, such as dating.  It was some how normal for them to not receive and feel this love.  These poor women are often confused to define what they feel in regards to the topic.  Anger, sorrow and resentment is usually felt.  If these feelings never release, it will never open room for love.  I give people creative exercises to help unblock these emotions for flow.

One important and basic exercise is to send lots of love and forgiveness towards mothers, and people we aren’t receiving  love from, but really should be deserving their love.

Forgiveness does not happen overnight.  It’s a persistent process.  But you can feel the powerful difference in it to creates space for our spirits to achieve and have it all.

Clear connection within your own personal spirit is preciously important before embarking on any journey.  We cannot forget, these mothers still contributed something in their children’s growth.

I have an overbearing, conservative mother, but loving and very tough.  I didn’t realize how much I had taken her for granted.  She’s very loving and absolutely spreads her love unconditionally over people that aren’t receiving the maternal and supportive love they need.  My father’s pretty similar in that respect as well.

My mummy & nephew.  These guys are inseperable.

I’m definitely their bi-product by default. : )

If you know of a child, that isn’t receiving the best love possible and you know you’re capable of giving the child some attention. Why aren’t you giving them some love?  Even if you do have your own kids, or are too busy with other tasks,  Still donate some time.  In return, you’ll most likely receive unconditional love or have contributed positively in their growth, much more than you’d ever know.

This is also especially true for the elderly.  They just want someone to hear their repeated story just twice.  Be sweet and just do it.

Our beloved Barb & my Nephew– Enjoying a Shirley Temple.

If the child is kind of bratty, the elder a little cranky–that’s okay, they’re still deserving of your love. Just give it!  Open your flow, with no resentment.  Know you’re doing a good deed, and it will be returned.

Ironically, it would feel like the ‘right’ thing to do to treat the person the same they would treat you.  Ah,  this calls for another blog post, another time.

Love is one of the given energies to assist your spirit into glowing. Giving it, receiving it, and accepting it.  Love from your spirit shines through to your face, and is the most perfect accessory for all occasions and outfits.

My nephew and I.

Many of us have awesome mothers.  Some of you may actually be amazing mothers.  There are those that lost their mothers or are not receiving maternal love.  I’m definitely a second mother to my nephew.  Keep in mind, this love can still be reciprocated from other sources.

We just need to forgive and release emotions such as anger, sorrow and resentment.  Fill the wonderful void with so much love, especially from yourself.

Send some love to your mothers from me!  Although we should be doing something nice for her everyday, lets do something EXTRA nice for her today.

Happy Mothers Day.

<3 Ami

P.S.

Exercise:  Go give your love to somebody, especially a mother.  Then tell me what happened by giving so.  ;)

SYS: The Inspireience. Mr. Tacky

What’s Inspireience?  It’s inspiration through experience.  Apparently, people other than me made this word up first so I’ve chosen to spell it differently.

The best advice or suggestions may come after we experience a task ourselves.  It becomes a mixture of inspiration and experience.  We can read all of the self-help books we want, but sometimes we just have to put thoughts that pull us back aside and go for the plunge!  Or maybe you just want some inspireience from another before you try it.  That’s fine, too!

And no, Mr. Tacky is not a man.  Read on to find out who he is.  Just maybe this inspireience with Mr. Tacky can be applied to dating in someway.

But Anyway, it’s funny how the world works.  I wanted to take acting and improv classes to shake me out of my box, or maybe widen the box a little.  But a combination of it came to me in the form of a job.  So if opportunity knocks, take it!

I’ve decided to get some inspireience, and brighten the spirit to my style, in hopes it inspires you.

I’m doing something I have personally never done before, or ever thought of doing.  I will be doing live demonstrations for products in stores.  The pay is 100% commission.  I’ve never worked on 100% commission.  The thought of it makes me a little nervous.

The product I’ll be selling,  is Mr. Tacky- a re-usable lint roller.  Yes!  If I can sell, demonstrate and create a live-show out of this, I can do anything and so can you!

For company privacy, I just dubbed the product as Mr. Tacky.

Is there anything new you’re planning to embark on?  I’d love to know!

What drives you?

Obviously, we all know–if a car runs out of gas…nobody is going anywhere.

Everyone in this world, has a soul, has a spirit– the gas or energy that fuels our bodies to keep going.  There’s nothing esoteric about it.  Our bodies are like cars, and doctors are like mechanics.  In a car, we are in charge to drive it to our intended destination or just aimlessly with no destination in mind.

The only feature which enables a car to drive on it’s own is cruise control.  But then again, we’re responsible for speed selection, car direction, and the helpless people who chose to ride the car with us.  It’s common sense to know improper car care leads to the engine-malfunction-junction.  Yes.  It means you have to take it to the mechanic for a fix.  Unluckily, cars don’t really have emotion’ and feelings to express (as humans do) the effects of what we put them through.  Now, lets have the roads represent emotions for a second.   In particular, this  drive is on a bumpy, rocky road.  Boy, you can literally feel the bumps on this road — and the only hope is to not get a flat tire.  Or what if on our drive, we reach a dead-end?  Now what do we do?  We always have options, to keep us moving along.  We can change the tire or turn the car around at the dead-end stop.  To feel the bumps on a rocky road, may just bring awareness to our situation, to slow down or turn around.

We drive the car, but who or what drives us within our bodies?  Whether someone believes in a God, Gods, or a specific religion (or not), something undeniable within us exists.   We can describe it as a high-energy–let’s call it spirit.  Our thoughts are and use energy, any form of movement we do will use energy.  Energy, energy, energy……

If we approach life as circumstances just happening to us, it’s similar as to sitting in the driver’s seat of a car, while letting it drive off of the road on it’s own.

Another scenario  maybe driving without a map and going the wrong direction, with the confidence of going the right way… when we’re really not.  We want to reach New York, but how did we go west to California?  Oops.

We have to be mindful.

Just carelessly and solely staring out of the window can pose to be an obstruction in the way to our destination also.  Similar to our personal lives, our own personal mis-guidance of assumptions and direction without a map– will not lead us to our goal.  Our spirit is a tad bit more complex.   Once we’re aware of ourselves and actions, we’ll reap the fruits of our labor in no time.  Rather than kvetch about what does not come our way, we have to create a way to get what you want.  Then drive to get there.

Now let’s pull the breaks for a moment to realize this…. it’s important to be spiritual, and religion maybe helpful, but it’s okay if following a particular religion isn’t for you.  It doesn’t always have to play a huge role in your life, especially if we don’t understand it and aren’t benefitting and witnessing the beneficial impact within our lives.  To be non-conformist spiritual, doesn’t mean you have to conform to be a certain way and listen to new-age music, and chant a gazillion om’s–although those are helpful, or do a ton of yoga poses naked (smirk).  You don’t even … get ready for the gasp….have to believe in a God, to be spiritual…. Because exploration and discovery deep within yourself will fruit Aha answers to your questions, and you will really tap into the greater source.   But the most important part is still acknowledging universal principles and understanding it’s a process to reacquaint yourself.

Today’s Exercise:

Before you deny existence of anything, it’s important to be a scientist within your own mind and body.  Take into account and research for your own beneficial well-being, what works for you and what doesn’t.   You first have to figure out your destination (goal).  Then question and honestly answer what/why/who does and doesn’t contribute to help you reach your destination, whether it’s peace or happiness.

It’s important to have a goal—YOUR own personal goal.  Not a goal someone else chose for you.  What journey do you want to create and take? What destination are you planning to reach? Oh yeah, you’re in the driver’s seat.  Don’t forget to have mile-markers and reward yourself with your own version of a Happy meal or something great.

Similar to driving, you don’t have control what goes on around you.  But, you sure do have some control on what goes on inside of you.  To develop sense of control, is just an art that’s learned through self discovery and exploratory.

The cool thing about spirituality is you create your own map, and can derive it from greater maps that already exist.

Life Bumps, Bricks and Walk throughs!

Have you ever been in your own world so much, while walking, where you’re not paying attention to the ‘real’ world, then bam!  You’ve totally just bumped into something, perhaps a brick wall!  Then all of a sudden, you’ve tuned back into the ‘real’ world, feeling the ouch, then looked around to see who saw you– depending on who, maybe feel kind of shy and silly about it… and possibly internally lecturing yourself ‘shoulda’, coulda’s, and woulda’s….  Either saying, ‘that wall totally shouldn’t have been there, or if they could have built that wall to the other side’  or maybe you turned the words around, ‘I should have been more alert or I could have steered more to the right.’  Well, forget fault finding.

Well, lets first get over the fact it happened, no turning back, so it’s done with.. whoever is going to laugh, HAHAHA let them, and ignore it, Take it to be a humble stumble for yourself and laugh with them and be happy it brought you back to awareness.  Being angry or embarrassed about it, just gives them more fuel. Suavely just keep keepin’ on.  Keep in mind, this moment happened to bring awareness about your surroundings and as a reference for next time, to think ‘Oh yeah, last time I hit that wall, so I’ll walk around it.’

We start noticing obstructions when we head in the direction of our goal. These obstructions have either always been there or we’ve built them there.  But we can tear them down, and there are people that either help you tear them down, or try to build it around you.  The wall of Procrastination appears and tests your discipline…Or maybe the wall of others’ opinions.  What is it that you want, and how do you overcome that wall? go around (focused and neutral), above (confident and super focused) or under it (humble and focused).

Sometimes the wall is there to test your patience, and you may have to do something else in the mean time, like paint a picture while you wait.  Or find a way around it, or have someone else help you break it.

the importance is  Have a goal, pre-plan it in a manner to develop the receptivity to connect to your goal. In life, we’re bound to bump into things.  Take it as it comes, Gauge your reaction and just keep going.  There’s always a passageway in the form of maybe a messenger, a different message or different positioning.  If you don’t try, then you’ve failed.

Today’s exercise.. Write down a goal, and then cut out pictures and words relating to it.  Then find and glue pictures of it.  Stick it in a spot where you’ll see it everyday.  There’s that saying, ”The energy goes where your attention flows.”

Here’s a bit of cheezy inspiration for you! :)

Inspiration: an old man who’s highest level of education was 3rd grade..

Yesterday I met a fascinating inspiration.  An old man.

What about him?

Highest Education: 3rd grade

Where?: Small farm village in India

Languages: Gujurati and an ounce of English

Many people must be wondering what’s fascinating about an uneducated man living in America, that only speaks an ounce of English.  What’s he doing here?  Well, he’s the owner of three franchise motels.  Baffled?  I’m sure.  Jealous? Don’t be.  It’s a waste of an emotion.  The first 10 years of his life, he worked so hard doing 14 hour days doing various labor jobs, and saved his money.  The second ten, he spent investing/managing/enjoying.  He’s always aware of what’s going on around him and he knows his basic math and numbers.

Wisdom I learned from him:

We are privileged to be born human and not an animal, so don’t work like one your entire life.  Use the senses God gave you.

What good is a business if you’re working like a buffalo and you can’t enjoy yourself?

Give the customer quality: presentation is important.

Keep things clean,  organized and simple.

Be determined, don’t give up & don’t worry.

Don’t be stagnant and roll with change.

Most of all, don’t lose faith in God.

He was a nicely dressed man, wearing a plaid button down, grey slacks and a Northface like coat topped with a smile.

New beginnings

Happy CHINESE New Year!!!  Today is an amazing day: The Year of the Water Dragon!  Wiki describes the dragon the best, “The Dragon symbolizes power and excellence, valiancy and boldness, heroism and perseverance, nobility and divinity. A dragon overcomes obstacles until success is his. He is energetic, decisive, optimistic, intelligent and ambitious.”

People’s positive intentions combined with great new moon energy is a wave to ride on, especially on Chinese New Year.  It’s celebrated so colorfully and has so many lucky superstitions.  Whether you believe in luck, superstition, or not, they’re still fun to do and it’s about the intention behind it all.

Traditionally, many families in China, clean their homes to sweep away any bad fortune, to make room for good luck.  People will decorate their windows and doors in red paper-cuts, and couplets, with themes of ‘good fortune’ ‘happiness’ ‘double-happiness’ ‘love’ ‘wealthy’ and ‘longevity’.  On Chinese New Years eve, people generally eat foods that signify good luck or attributes represented by what they eat.  The next day, they give each other money in red paper envelopes.  The Chinese New Year is about reconciling, forgetting all grudges and wishing peace, love and happiness for the world and themselves.

Although January 1st, people are collectively on the same page, and you can vibe on those energies, too.. and there are so many other new years, I chose Chinese New Year for 2 reasons!

1: People’s positive intentions are playful and fun.

2: New Moon energy.  You tap in when the moon grows from little to big!  Many cultures do things based on the moon :)

What Should you be doing today to reap benefits?  Like anything, you can always dive deep into the ocean of a topic, but I chose just an exercise, that’s closer to the shoreline and powerfully beneficial.  Make two lists.  One of what you’d like to heal or banish and another one of what you’d like to have in your life.  Let’s kind of make the ‘banish’ list friendly, not the intention to destroy a person, lol but more like ridding a negative situation, like debt or unhappiness, attachment to something that’s causing you to be miserable…etc.  Now glimpse at the list and feel the uncomfort it gives you.  Don’t feed into the feeling, or judge it, but just feel it and imagine what it would feel like if you let that go, along with the worry and attachment.  Breath in deeply for 20 seconds, pause for 10 and breath out for 20. (Breath out your worries)  Do it again.  and again!  so 3 x.   Literally take that paper–and destroy it.  Rip it, pyro it, or even flush it down the toilet (make sure it doesn’t clog, that would be a new problem.)  While you rip it, imagine that your troubles go afar.  It’s a temporary way to feel better, up until you can make logical decisions to fix situations. AAHS, relieve.  Life always gives you options, you may not like them, but they’re still options and may liberate you.

This exercise implements a beginning for releasing your past, and letting it go, so you have room for happiness, or whatever else.

Now, the exercise for attracting more positive.  Take a red pen (power color), and write what all you want in your life, with the mindset ya’ already got it.  For example, a new job, a new love, happiness, peace, etc.  now focus on this, and start ‘feeling’ it.  The secret to tap into something is to ‘feel’ it.  So if you want a new job,  imagine yourself as feeling what it would be like to have a new job, Most likely, some form of peace and excitement.  Start to feel it!  Do this everyday, and actually apply for a job and make the effort towards it.

It shouldn’t take more than 5 minutes.

Wear Black today! it represents water.  And eat something sweet to invite sweetness in your life :)

The moon gives you a fresh new start every month.  Take advantage of it!

Happy Chinese New Year!  Thank you for reading!
